UTAPS is here to help provide a welcoming environment for event attendees. The following event parking arrangements are available: 

Attendee-Paid Permits

Provide detailed parking information to help your guests navigate and park on campus. Clearly state the following instructions in any announcements, flyers, letters, emails, etc.:
A Sac State parking permit is required to be displayed while parked on campus. To purchase a $7 daily (or $4 two-hour) parking permit:

  • Sign up for a PayByPhone account and download the app. When you arrive on campus, enter location number "5115" into the app to pay your parking fee.
  • When you arrive on campus, pay with cash or credit at any permit machine located in all student parking lots/structures; view the campus map for locations.

Your parking permit is valid in student parking spaces. The closest parking to the (event location) is (nearest student parking lot/structure). Please view driving to campus and campus map for directions. A printable campus map is also available.

Pre-Paid Permits

If you would like to purchase permits for less than 25 event attendees, visit the UTAPS office to purchase $7 daily ‘scratcher’ permits in advance. You may mail these permits to attendees in advance or distribute at the event.

If you would like to purchase permits for 25 or more event attendees, UTAPS will create a printable ePermit (PDF file) for you to distribute to your guests (email, webpage, print and handout). The parking fees must be paid in advance at a daily rate of $3 per attendee, based on the space reservation’s estimated attendance.

To request an event parking quote:

  1. Login to the Sac State Parking Portal.
  2. Click “Request Event Parking”.
  3. Submit the Event Parking Request form.

UTAPS will issue an event parking quote with payment instructions within 1 business day.

 Event Parking Fees

UTAPS is required by law to collect parking fees for anyone using campus parking facilities. 

UTAPS is a self-supporting operation which receives no general funding. The only sources of funding are users of Sac State's transportation and parking facilities and services.  Their contributions provide the following:

  • Maximum safety and convenience in regards to transportation and parking.
  • Development and maintenance of suitable parking facilities.
  • Parking enforcement–ensuring all users are meeting the above requirements.

These facilities and services are funded by the implementation and enforcement of the following UTAPS policies.

  • Parking fees are required to be paid by every user of parking facilities.
  • Parking fees are required every day and at all times.
  • UTAPS Parking Regulations

The above policies are in accordance with Section 21113 of the California Vehicle Code, Sections 42200 and 42201 of Title 5 of the California Code of RegulationsThese policies and procedures ensure the cost of Sac State’s transportation and parking facilities is distributed equally among all its users.

 Event Parking Fee Waiver

UTAPS cannot waive parking fees or provide free parking.

However, there is limited All University Expense account funding available for Sac State departments hosting academic related events on campus. 

To qualify for AUE funding of your event's parking fees:

  • Visitor(s) must attend or participate in a University-sponsored program/event that
    • Occurs during the academic year;
    • Is sponsored by a College or academic department;
    • Is funded by the General Operating Fund; and
    • Does not charge a fee or charge for admission (ticketed event)
  • Visitor(s) participation in said University-sponsored program must enhance the students’ educational experience at Sac State.
  • Visitor(s) are not receiving any compensation, stipend, honorarium, course credit, or any other form of remuneration from Sac State for their participation.
  • The AUE account must have funds available (funds are allocated on a first come, first served basis until they are exhausted for the year).
  • AUE funds may only be used to cover vehicle parking costs; funds cannot be used for any other parking or transportation services.

If your event does not meet the above criteria, you must arrange attendee-paid or pre-paid permits for your event.

INSTRUCTIONS

 1. Event Coordinator Submits Request

Submit an OnBase Event Parking AUE Request Form.

After successfully submitting the form, your department chair will receive an email notification that the form is pending their review

 2. Department Chair Approves Request

After a faculty or staff member in your department submits a request, you will receive an email notifying you of the pending form. In the email, click on the form's link.

Review the form and scroll down to the Department Approval section and select one of the following options:

  1. Click Approve if the event meets AUE funding criteria (located in the instructions tab).
  2. Click Deny if the event doesn’t meet AUE funding criteria.
  3. Click Return to Submitter if the form is incorrect and/or needs changes.

Click the Submit button to complete your review of the form. 

Note: Please CLOSE THE BROWSER when finished so the forms leave your queue. 

 3. UTAPS Reviews Request

UTAPS will review and approve or deny your request within five business days. 

If your request for AUE funding was approved, the event coordinator and department chair will receive a confirmation email. The event parking arrangements will be sent to the event coordinator within five business days.

If your request for AUE funding was denied, the event coordinator and department chair will receive an email with the reason for denial and alternative event parking options.
