UTAPS is here to help provide a welcoming environment for event attendees. The following event parking arrangements are available: 

Attendee-Paid Permits

Provide the following information to your visitor to help navigate and park on campus.

A Sac State parking permit is required to be displayed while parked on campus. To purchase a $7 daily (or $4 two-hour) parking permit:

  • Sign up for a PayByPhone account and download the app. When you arrive on campus, enter location number "5115" into the app to pay your parking fee.
  • When you arrive on campus, pay with cash or credit at any permit machine located in all student parking lots/structures; view the campus map for locations.

Your parking permit is valid in student parking spaces. The closest parking to the (event location) is (nearest student parking lot/structure). Please view our campus map for parking lot locations. A printable campus map is also available.

Pre-Paid Permits

If you would like to purchase permits for less than 25 event attendees, visit the UTAPS office to purchase $7 daily ‘scratcher’ permits in advance. Mail these permits to attendees in advance or distribute them at the event.

If you would like to purchase permits for 25 or more event attendees, UTAPS will create a coupon code for you to distribute to your guests (email, text, event page). The event parking rate is $3 per attendee, based on the number of coupon code uses.

To request an event parking quote:

  1. Login to the Sac State Parking Portal.
  2. Click “Request Event Parking”.
  3. Submit the Event Parking Request form.

UTAPS will issue an event parking quote with payment and parking instructions within 1 business day.


Additional Event Parking Information


 Event Parking Fees

UTAPS is required by law to collect parking fees for anyone using campus parking facilities. 

UTAPS is a self-supporting operation which receives no general funding. The only sources of funding are users of Sac State's transportation and parking facilities and services.  Their contributions provide the following:

  • Maximum safety and convenience in regards to transportation and parking.

  • Development and maintenance of suitable parking facilities.

  • Parking enforcement–ensuring all users are meeting the above requirements.

These facilities and services are funded by the implementation and enforcement of the following UTAPS policies.

  • Parking fees are required to be paid by every user of parking facilities.

  • Parking fees are required every day and at all times.

The above policies are in accordance with Section 21113 of the California Vehicle Code, Sections 42200 and 42201 of Title 5 of the California Code of RegulationsThese policies and procedures ensure the cost of Sac State’s transportation and parking facilities is distributed equally among all its users.


 Event Parking Fee Waiver

UTAPS cannot waive parking fees or provide free parking.

However, there is limited All University Expense account funding available for Sac State departments hosting academic related events on campus. View the AUE Funding page for more information on what events qualify and how to apply.


 Event Parking Days and Times

Contact eventparking@csus.edu during initial event planning to determine the most effective parking time to hold the event. The following off-peak parking times are best:

  • After 4:30pm, Monday through Thursday
  • All Day, Friday through Sunday
  • Finals Week
  • Summer
  • Spring Recess
  • Winter Intersession
  • Academic Holidays

 Event Parking Services

Parking Enforcement Officer ($33/hour, three hour minimum). A parking enforcement officer may be hired to cordon off parking spaces, greet visitors and allow access to reserved event parking spaces.

Information Service Provider ($37/hour, three hour minimum). An information service provider will staff an information booth beyond standard operation hours to provide directions and distribute event parking permits.


 Event Signs

All signs on campus need to be approved by Student Organizations and Leadership before they can be displayed and must adhere to the University Policy Manual posting requirements.  More information about posting signs on campus can be found in the Student Organization and Leadership handbook.  


UTAPS does not create, provide or display signs on campus. Contact University Print and Mail for sign services.


 Parking Cones and A-Frames

Parking related equipment such as cones, A-frames and directional signs are not available for rent. Please contact the following local business which specializes in these rentals:

 Bus Parking

Buses must drop off and pick up passengers on Stadium Way, between the Broad Field House and the Alumni Center.

Buses must make their own arrangements to park off-campus during peak parking (before 2:30pm Monday through Thursday). 

Buses may park in Lot 9 across the street from the Broad Field House during off-peak parking (after 2:30pm Monday through Thursday and all day Friday through Sunday).
